About This Place

Located in the heart of historic St. Augustine, FL, Ice Plant Bar masterfully blends Southern charm with farm-to-table sophistication, creating a dining experience that is both unique and utterly memorable. Housed in a beautifully restored former ice house, this restaurant showcases a vibrant menu that spotlights fresh, locally sourced ingredients, artfully crafted into dishes that burst with flavor and soul.

The culinary offerings here are nothing short of exceptional. Start your meal with the irresistible Smoked Fish Dip or the house-made Pimento Cheese & Garlic Toast, each bite delivering a perfect harmony of smoky richness and creamy indulgence. For the main course, the Skillet Fried Chicken & Hoecakes is a standout—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, accompanied by sweet and savory hoecakes that complement the dish flawlessly. Burger enthusiasts will find joy in the Half Pound Ice Plant Burger with Truffle Fries, where juicy, perfectly seasoned beef meets the decadent earthiness of truffle oil, balanced by crispy, golden fries. Not to be missed are the Blue Crab Beignets, lightly fried and bursting with fresh Gulf flavors, embodying the spirit of Florida’s coastal cuisine.

Ice Plant Bar’s brunch menu is equally enticing, with creative options such as the fluffy Dutch Baby Pancake, the elegantly classic Eggs Benedict, and the hearty Chicken & Hoes, which perfectly showcases Southern comfort with a modern twist. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented, inviting you to savor every bite.

The drink program here is a true highlight. The bartenders expertly craft signature cocktails like the silky Old Fashioned and the refreshing Moscow Mule, alongside inventive local mixes such as the Florida Mule and Ron de la Casa. Whether you prefer a well-poured glass of wine, craft beer, or a perfectly balanced vodka cocktail, there is something to delight every palate.

The atmosphere complements the menu perfectly: rustic yet refined, with exposed brick walls and industrial touches that pay homage to the building’s ice factory origins. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for everything from a laid-back brunch with friends to an intimate dinner date. Outdoor seating on the patio adds an airy, relaxed vibe, where guests can soak in St. Augustine’s vibrant energy.

Customer reviews underscore the exceptional quality and thoughtful service that make Ice Plant Bar a beloved gem. Andrea K raves about the “incredible” food and “handcrafted” drinks, appreciating the family-friendly touches like available high chairs and a kids’ menu. Michael Richardson highlights the unique setting shared with the St. Augustine distillery, praising the fresh flavors of the 2 egg breakfast and the chance to explore local bourbon and gin afterwards. Travis Garcia’s glowing five-star review speaks to the freshness and boldness of flavors, especially in his Caesar salad with blackened chicken, which converted a kale skeptic. Carrie G gushes about the atmosphere and the standout Skillet Fried Chicken & Hoecakes, noting the exceptional customer service. And Janet Rabe-Meyer paints a vivid picture of enjoying a cozy, bustling evening with delicious, locally inspired dishes and attentive bartenders.

It is such a neat place to enjoy a farm to table meal! The food was incredible, the service was exceptional, and the drinks were handcrafted. If you have kids, don't let that discourage you from going. We were able to leave our stroller downstairs, and they had a high chair and kids menu available. There is also an outdoor patio. We tried the burger and the Caesar salad, with watermelon lemonade and lavender lemonade to wash it down. 5/5!

Great place to stop in St. Augustine. The restaurant is in the same building as the St. Augustine distillery so you can do 2 things at once. Awesome space in original ice house setting. Unique menu featuring locally produced ingredients. I had the 2 egg offering that had their homemade bread. The meal was fantastic. When you're done eating, take the distillery tour & sample their bourbon & gin.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What an amazing dining experience at Ice Plant Bar in St. Augustine, FL! The food was absolutely top-notch — everything tasted incredibly fresh and full of flavor. I had the Caesar salad with blackened chicken, and wow… I’m usually not a fan of kale, but this one totally won me over! The flavors were bold and balanced perfectly — the huge homemade croutons, tangy capers, and that touch of lemon brought it all together beautifully. My wife ordered the fried chicken with gravy, collard greens, and hoecakes, and it was out of this world. The hoecakes were like the perfect mix between a pancake and cornbread — crispy on the outside, soft and buttery inside. Every bite was pure Southern comfort. The ambiance was just as impressive. The restaurant is inside a restored 1920s building, keeping all that old charm intact — high ceilings, vintage details, and even a 1940s delivery truck parked outside . It feels like stepping back in time but with modern craft and flavor. We both loved every minute and every bite. I’d eat here again anytime — one of those rare places that nails both the food and the experience. Highly recommend!

Loved everything about this place! The decor was interesting with a fun atmosphere, and great customer service from Jasmine! My cocktail (Waiting in Vain) was tasty and refreshing. We started by sharing the Lil Gems Caesar…best caesar I have ever had, the olive tapenade made the dish. I loved every part of the Skillet Fried Chicken & Hoecakes! The chicken was crispy and juicy, and the hoecakes were so delicious (loved the apricot butter!). My husband also loved the burger and cocktail (Dazed and Confused). Would highly recommend!

It was a rainy night on Sunday but the place was crowded with happy, dry people. We sat at the gorgeous, vintage bar and were served by Kedwin and his colleagues. We started by sharing the large arugula salad- a nice healthy start to a rich and tasty dinner. I had the shrimp and grits- version is called something else, but it was deliciously soupy and featured local shrimp. My fiancé had the chicken and hoe cakes. Kedwin offered us a cocktail when he heard that we were engaged- he made us an exotic non alcoholic concoction to accommodate my guy's alcohol free lifestyle- and then he toasted with us. It was a wonderful celebration! Thank you Kedwin and the rest of the staff!

No reservations required.Tried the crab beignet, pimento cheese & bread, burger , fish of the day. Everything was well seasoned and delicious made from scratch. Cocktails were great and balanced. Service was attentive. Love the historical aspects of the industrial building. Really enjoy that it’s off the beaten path. If in St. Augustine I recommended this restaurant.
